World travels

In July / August / September Keith traveled to Singapore, Capetown, and Honolulu for work.

Singapore was a lot of fun because he was 13 hours ahead of us. We could facetime and see his morning before we went to bed and he could call and talk to us when we woke up, at the end of his day! We saw a few of the sights from his hotel room and many of his meals.

Capetown proved to be much more difficult with regard to seeing the sights through his webcam...even more difficult once his computer gave up on him! Unfortunately, I don't think he has uploaded all of the photos from these trips.

I think it would be super fantastic if he shared some of his photos / travels, don't you?

Spoiler alert: He went on a safari, and encountered penguins!

Final days

Our last two days were spent at a house on Bainbridge Island, in the teeny tiny town of Port Townsend, and gallivanting around Seattle.  The house we rented on Bainbridge Island was beautiful and quirky. I enjoyed the fresh eggs and the kidlets REALLY enjoyed the source of fresh eggs. :)

He was oh so proud to stand with the market pig!

Directly behind the market pig is Pike's Place Fish Market. If you ever visit Seattle, I highly recommend standing around and watching these guys for 20 minutes. Also maybe overnight shipping some of their haul back home. It is quite the sight! See the fish flying through the air? When they get a request, they sing a song and throw a fish to the guy behind the counter, sometimes over customer's heads! See a video here

We accidentally stumbled on the original Starbucks....luckily we had already had our coffee...the line was intense.
Cash fell in love with this band and had to watch them until I finally agreed to buy their CD.

Ostrich eggs! I would venture to say that if you seek it, the market will have it.
The infamous Gum Wall(really its an entire alley)! They actually cleaned this wall right after we left!

Oh, we stopped for more coffee...a lot more.

We stumbled into an inner city garden before lunch.

The cute couple next to us hanging spoons on their noses. :)
We made sure to stop in and visit the Freemont Troll!

And finally! Snoqualmie Falls! This was a must see for Keith who is a fan of the show "Twin Peaks."
We were totally and completely wiped out at this point, and honestly we may not have done this if the hike hadn't promised to be under 100 ft.
It was pretty awesome, and a perfect place to part ways with our extended family.

Can you see our great state in this photo? Yes, now we head home!

Days 3 and 4 in the Pacific Northwest

We attempted two family water fountains, both were closed. As a last ditch effort we found this fun fountain...that did not allow swimming. On to hike a waterfall!
Believe it or not, we actually do reserve hotel rooms big enough for the entire family! For some reason they gravitate towards the same bed every time!
Over used words on this trip "wow, beautiful, amazing, awesome, incredible" and yet at the same time...not used enough!
Paradise trail on Mt Rainier

This hike is no joke, it is virtually straight up for the first few hundred feet. On our way back down a party of adults passed us at the bottom of the trail and said "Oh, if those little kids can do it, we can do it!" :) Our littles happen to be pretty stellar hikers.
Rock cell phones....it was a difficult trail, we may have lost our minds a bit!

Snow!
Don't mind us, we are all in OSU gear at UW!

Talk about a stunning campus! This has been my absolute favorite campus so far. The weather was great, the buildings are intricate and the library.....it's glorious!

External view of the library, see Mt. Rainier in the distance?!
We rode a ferry to Bainbridge Island, our home for the next couple of nights!
Good bye Seattle (for now)
Hello Bainbridge Island!
